Statistical and Collaborative Research Unit

Overview

SCCRU is a group of professionals and is committed to providing statistical consultancy for practitioners and academia across different disciplines in the application of appropriate advanced statistical tools in their respective fields of study. It will strive to bridge the gap between the practitioners and academia, which will empower practitioners, and academia to produce basic and applied research that would provide creative solutions to problems that exist in private and governmental sectors. This unit will help to increase awareness among different industries regarding the utility of statistical expertise for continuous improvement.

To assist and guide new research scholars for conduction research in their respective fields of study by conduction research seminars and symposiums on a continuous basis.

Our Duties

For Practitioners

We assist people from variety of sections including business, medicine, environment and government agencies in the application/execution of advanced statistical tools for optimizing processes (both service and manufacturing).

For Academia

Supplementing students at Bachelors, Masters and Post Graduate Level we provide advice and collaboration of the statistical components of grant proposals including power analysis (i.e. optimum sample size for the study), identification of appropriate statistical methodology, data management and report writing.

For General Stakeholders

We are also open to other stakeholders such as people working in hospitals, banks, private organizations. We arrange Seminars/ Workshops on research design, questionnaire development, techniques of data collection/curation, analysis of data using various Statistical software (both menu driven and coding languages) and explanation of technical statistical parlance (terms) and interpretation of results.

Research Approaches

To use un-designed data (e.g. commercial data and big data) and assist in:
(1) the statistical design of an investigation (e.g., census, sample survey, administrative records, model building);
(2) the summarization of the findings from the investigation; and
(3) the inferences that can be drawn from sample data about an entire general population
Transforming data into a viable piece of information to be used in effective decision making.

Mathematics is a recognized and established field of research at KAU as this discipline enjoys the services of specialist researchers in a variety of important areas of mathematics and its applications. CMMSA will interact with top-level centers to sign MOUs for building research ties with them.
